Funny Ha Ha

Anyone know who that "Russian Scholar" is who makes commentary on the DVD Special Features of Bujalski's Funny Ha Ha? (Is it you, Svetlana?) So strange because the commentary lasts the length of the film and there's no credit for the speaker. A lot of it was hard to understand because of the strong Russian accent and the sound was poorly recorded. Also, on this DVD, which I rented from Netflix, the sound is not in synch for the movie. How weird, and unfortunate.

Francis Ford Coppola

When he was little, Coppola asked his father, who was a composer, if he was the best composer who ever lived. His father said no, there was always Beethoven.

So then are you the worst composer?

No, there are really terrible composers out there who are worse than me.

Chinese Proverb

"Every bird thinks his nest is best." I was eating shaolungpow (forgive my spelling,) the most scrumptious dumplings, EMBOLDENED with their own INNER SOUP and CRAB and PORK at the Grand Sezuan (forgive) on 24th st. and 9th ave... For a rack of 8 or so dumplings you pay 6.55, such a round figure. Two should do for two, three for three. Maybe one for one, but I always like to see those vessels in a stack, don't you? It reminds me of the steamy Hong Kong I've seen in movies. Incidentally, if anyone knows of a good noodle shop, where you go to get your take-home noodle, like the one in Wong Kar Wei's IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE, please tell me.
